We have entirely too many works pages which cram a novel, a film, three remakes, a TV series and a flash game all together as it is. Give the books their own page -- or better yet a page each. There's no need to blend them into an article about the movie.

I couldn't agree more. The only time I see an exception being made is if the book is basically an adaptation of the movie in book form, has some minor changes, but otherwise follows the movie.
If it's a totally separate or grossly different take on the original work, it needs it's own page.
