That's a working title. Needs a Better Title.

Also needs grammar cleanup. A page with text in nothing but point form is for organizing ideas, not for presenting them.

Also needs input from other mods. @Labster @GethN7 @Looney Toons @QuestionableSanity @Derivative @SelfCloak

Also needs an introductory paragraph.

Guideline or policy? If the latter, needs input from all active users before going into effect, IMHO.

What is not grounds for a tempban

  • Disagreeing with a mod.
  • Making an honest mistake.
  • Removing incorrect text that was previously presented as fact.
  • Mentioning politics on a page where it's appropriate.
  • Being disruptive on a one-off basis.

What is grounds for a tempban

  • Breaking the law. (Which if repeated is grounds for a permanent ban.)
  • Putting the wiki as a whole at risk.
  • Violating the Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy.
  • Spamming off-topic posts.
  • Repeatedly ignoring a mod.
  • Refusing to learn from honest mistakes, or repeatedly making the same honest mistake.
  • Removing tropes on a work page, works on a trope page, or anything on a YMMV page without explanation.
  • Adding strong language to a page that shouldn't have it, or removing strong language from a page that should have it.
  • Being disruptive repeatedly - especially if no apology was made for the first occurrence.

Duration of a tempban

Varies depending on the nature of the grounds (lawbreaking is worse than fiddling with strong language, for example) and whether the troper is a repeat offender.

Minimum one day for a minor first offence.

Maximum... how long before a "temp" ban becomes effectively a permanent ban? Six months? Longer? Shorter?
